It seems like I wouldn't need yet another reason to quit drinking, but today I have just that. I've found out that a ripping hangover puts the damper on sailing. I had time to take her out today and I didn't. That's just stupid. I did swing by to look Ava over after picking up my little girl from school. One issue I've been trying to figure out has been the short backstay. It is the kind that splits in two before attaching to the stern. On both turnbuckles there wasn't enough thread showing to even find the cotter pin hole. I figured out a solution and off I went to the hardware store.

I took Ava out for a sail today. Wind was from the SW at 8 knots with 10Knot gusts. After running downwind with just the main I turned around at the end of the NOAA dock and started tacking back. Whew! I tacked 15 times in just 3/4 of a mile. The channel isn't wide and restricted by the NOAA dock and crab pots.
So. If I've done this right when I publish this my jdsilwones@me account will get an email automatically. Shall we give it a try?
